Our name
Tokii {TOE-key} transitive verb
- To give and receive; to communicate
Tokii comes from the concept of a unique language developed in Canada called Toki Pona. Toki Pona is a simple language designed to express the most, using the least. The entire language has only 123 words and 14 sounds. Toki Pona is a constructed language, whimsical and playful.
We realized that the verb Tokii means exactly what we are – a company that helps people communicate, to give and receive. We also liked the basic ease, simplicity and playfulness of Toki Pona, the language. We want Tokii, our company to reflect these values.

As a company, we take play very seriously… lol. Honestly, we do. From our cool head office, to the fun we have each day together, to the way we interact and engage with members and future members through social media, we love to have fun and it shows!
Learn – Whether your relationship is just getting started, or you’ve been together for “forever”, there are always new things to learn about your partner and about yourself.
All of Tokii’s products and services are geared towards discovery, learning and challenging the conventions that say this has to feel like “working” on your relationship.
As a company, we consider ourselves to be pretty savvy at what we do, but we are always learning and face new challenges as opportunities to learn to be better.
Love – Love is in the air! It’s Tokii’s bread and butter. Everything we do at Tokii is to help keep that fire burning to help rekindle that spark.
Did you know our founders Karla and Al are husband and wife? And although Tokii blossomed out of the minds of a couple of happily married people, the amazing talent that has joined the team have all shared in the belief that we all deserve love and to be happily in love. We all bring our own relationship histories, and through Tokii, many of our team have healed old wounds and are in happy relationships!
