The New Couples-Centric website Tokii.com is a digital initiative at the cutting edge of Sex, Love, and Solidarity. “Tokii is all about reclaiming and improving the communication we sometimes lose as a couple thanks to our forever-busy lifestyles” says Karla Stephens-Tolstoy, Co-Founder of the website. “We give so much of ourselves to jobs, family and the daily grind that there’s precious little time left for each other. We forget that communicating, that playing with one another isn’t a ‘novelty’ or a ‘luxury’, it’s a healthy necessity and fundamental to our well-being as a couple. Tokii offers the perfect stimuli to jumpstart us back into that mindset.”
We want our members to explore our DiscoveryGames at work, in transit or even when they have a free moment around the house. So when they get home to each other, the conversations are already started. There’s already something special planned and of course, the mood has already been set by features like our Tokii MoodMeter.
Given our fast-paced lifestyles, our culture has legitimized and even embraced the reality of on-line dating as an alternative to meeting potential partners. However, once connected, there is no web-based support service to guide and engage the couple to grow & nurture their relationship. That is, there never used to be…

Why Tokii?
We’re all different and we all have unique needs. We can all be harried workaholics who really do need reminders about the other aspects of our lives, more comfortable texting or emailing than connecting in person. It’s easy to put our partner at the back of 
the priority list and without even recognizing it to start taking one another for granted. Can you remember how sexual intimacy was such an important element of your relationship in the beginning? Now you’re tired and rationalize, “oh he’ll/she’ll be there tomorrow!” When did that happen?. While some relationships span continents, by choice or of necessity, others enjoy constant interaction, but little depth, Still others lead completely separate lives due to divergent interest but want to connect and steal a few special moments together. It’s all too easy to get stuck on auto-pilot even as we grow and enter into new stages in our relationship like marriage, having children or the infamous 7-year itch!
We all come from different backgrounds, have different hopes and expectations our of love and life, but there is a common thread to everyone! We’ve all use email, we all surf the web, and we are all connecting to the outside world via digital media. So what if you could put the WEB to work for you and your partner in a way that meaningfully moved your relationship forward, making it better and exploring greater possibilities together?
After extensive research, we designed Tokii to offer support and ideas for couples through our DiscoveryGames, TradingPost & MoodMeter, all in an easy-to-use online medium. Tokii is fun, friendly and designed to let couples broaden their thinking and understanding while learning more about each other. We use our great selection of games and content to let couples share their evolving tastes, values, opinions, or politics through the lens of current events, culture, sex and even spirituality. Our blogs & tweets promote the site and are written to stimulate opinions and dialogue in couples everywhere. We are not a counseling or therapy site wading into the diluted “self-help” universe; We are a couples support resource in the broadest sense. Our games and programs engage couples in multiple activities and share the aggregate results, allowing couples to see how their views relate to the wider community. With that in mind, Tokii is designed to be ultra-private so that our user’s specific data is never available publicly. Our goal is to engage couples to get to the same page and to keep their relationship growing forward.
Tokii activities are fun, clever, and provocative, designed to improve dialogue & interplay as a couple. Tokii is about enrichment and enjoyment. We think relationships are fantastic and Tokii helps everyone make the most of theirs.
What could make Tokii even better? Being able to access it on the go! Relationships are always changing and can’t be put on hold. Tokii Mobile allows members to take their relationships anywhere they go by bringing the Tokii experience from computers to a mobile device.
It is no secret that mobile applications are taking over the digital space. According to a March 2012 report by Pew Internet and American Life Project, 50% of US mobile phone owners are using smartphones.(pewinternet.com) (marketingland.com)
Our Tokii mobile application was deployed in May 2012 and is now available on all iOS and Android smartphones.
The first release of our mobile application features two of our most popular tools from Tokii.com: DiscoveryGames and MoodMeter. Both tools have the full functionality of their website counterparts and operate in tandem with actions taken on Tokii.com. Every DiscoveryGame (over 250) and every mood from MoodMeter (over 120) is now available for use at any time, in any place.
Tokii Mobile also has an easy signup process already integrated into the application. New members can join Tokii as soon as they download the app, while existing members can log in at the start, seamlessly combining their mobile and web Tokii experiences.
Tokii is for everyone who wants their relationships to succeed and grow in 
a positive way. We think this includes just about everyone! Whether they’ve been dating for a few weeks or married for twenty years, Tokii is worth a visit. The reality is that our the media glorifies infidelity, breakups and scandals because it sells magazines, TV & movie advertising etc.
Portraying happy and stable couples is not something that sells in the media, yet the vast majority of us aspire to that end! These couples do exist and Tokii wants to employ social media to get their stories and triumphs heard, inspiring others to follow suit. We support couples who want to to improve their relationships and make lives together better. To be honest, if a couple is on the verge of collapse, their issues are likely too complex for Tokii to salvage. We honestly want to help couples maintain and enhance their relationship so that they never reach that point!
When a new user visits signs up, we encourage them to invite their significant other to join. Members can play games on their own but the real value comes from participating as a couple. (Singles are of course most welcome!)
Currently, our largest group of users are couples between the ages of 26-38, with the 39-50 group coming in a close second. Moreover, more than half of our members are married, while almost a quarter of the remaining members are dating but living separately.
This indicates just how varied our member base is: young and old, married, dating and everything in between.
The variety of relationships in our community is diverse and encouraging. From couples separated by continents, to those trying to understand each other’s religious differences, to young couples and older couples just looking for a fun way to connect, Tokii offers all couples from all walks of life an engaging experience.

Tokii was built to support and grow relationships in today’s world. The reality of this new century is that social media platforms have become a significant, if not primary, means of communication, not only for business, but for relationships too. The vehicle for communication is at the disposal of couples everywhere, and Tokii helps them take the wheel. The longer a couple is together, the more thoroughly they think they know one another but Tokii’s evidence shows that longtime couples actually score worse than their newly minted counterparts when guessing how their partner will answer questions.
Why? Their views, perspectives, likes & dislikes change with time, but if we fail to share growth, our impressions of each other become stuck in the past! Newer couples fair better as they are simply more enthralled with and interested in their partner.
Conversely, what younger couples miss out on is candor when it comes to intimacy matters; they tend to withhold information for fear of being judged.
Many couples are separated by huge distances over long periods of time or are so bogged down with responsibilities that traditional means of communication are next to impossible. Tokii has built a meaningful way of connecting partners through participation in our community while acknowledging and embracing these facts of life.
As our society evolves so do relationships but the need for love, commitment and communication has never been more important.

Tokii.com offers great tools that positively impact relationships by inspiring, re-engaging and reminding people why they feel in love in the first place. We help them develop what goals and aspirations they can pursue as a couple.
DiscoveryGames are simple, fun multiple choice quizzes about topics ranging from movie trivia to racy sex play, from parenting to military deployment. Questions are designed to bring out important values, desires and preferences from both parties in a relationship and to present, compare and contrast these answers with their partner and the ‘Tokii Community’ at large.
Our MoodMeter is a straightforward “status” that allows our members to set and share their mood 
with their partner. Whether your partner is lonely, tired, excited, busy, (or even hot and bothered) the MoodMeter lays the cards on the table.
LoveZones are similar to our games and engage the couples in a quiz to discover their unique wants and needs in their relationships and in their love lives.
TradingPost gets couples talking to each other and to agree to make trades that involve some honest communication and compromise. Couples exchange Trade Ideas with each other ranging from practical household chores to sexual adventures! The immediate benefits of this negotiation are that it sidesteps judgmental attitudes and presents topics as ideas “just put out there”, open to modification or outright rejection! Tokii and User Privacy
Privacy is paramount at Tokii and our users feel safe and secure sharing anything and everything on the site, knowing it’s completely confidential.
The site is programmed with secure code (.net) to ensure information is kept private and no one outside the assigned couple can see specific interactions on Tokii.
All data that is used in analysis or promotional materials (such as promoting how men and women might think or act differently when it comes to spicing up their relationship or where to go on vacation or how to manage their finances) is always aggregate and anonymous. Ultimately, any information shared on Tokii is used to measure behaviors across ALL of the Tokii community, but is never linked to an individual user.

The response to our site has been phenomenal. While some of the subject matter is indeed everyday fodder, those who explore our site and play several games rave about the fun and the surprises they encounter. Our most frequent comments highlight how truly surprised our users are at their partners assertions, and how that has led to interesting discussions. That’s exactly the reaction Tokii is after! We avoid pigeon-holing our
users or making big assumptions about their points-of-view. We cover a wide variety of topics on the tip of couples’ tongues. For instance, it’s a given that men desire sex, but we use our tools to find context in these simple assertions, that’s where Tokii really shines.

Tokii is a Canadian-based start-up, founded by Karla Stephens-Tolstoy and Al Tolstoy, a married couple who saw a void in how today’s couples were connecting and communicating with each other thanks to society’s prevailing preoccupation with careers & day to day drudgery. When a friend sent them a troubling article claiming there were over 21 million couples in sexless marriages in the US alone, an idea took root and Tokii evolved.
We’ve all read reports saying that with the infusion of the digital world into our lives and social media at our fingertips at all times (Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of couples separated by geography and work schedules), we’re becoming distant from the most important people in our lives.

Our long-term vision is to be the internet’s hub where couples come to share ideas, to play with each other, and to flirt. We want to help make relationships stronger, closer and better by offering everything from thoughtful insights to fun games and services that couples can enjoy together.
Right now, we’re in the background stealthily developing more and more features and enlisting a group of qualified relationship experts to enhance our user experience and 
content. We won’t stop here. Tokii has every intention to expand our portfolio of products in near term and to create additional segments that allow parents to ‘play & explore’ with their children, friends to friends, work colleagues. We already have dedicated categories for Christian & Military groups and there is no limit to how many more segments we can entertain to provide targeted activities that will attract an even wider base. Expansion into other languages and emerging markets is also on the very-near horizon.
